Army Air Forces Staff Sgt. Roy Davis, an A-20G Havoc bomber assigned to the 13th Bombardment Squadron, is accounted for on June 7, 2017, by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. After more than 70 years missing in action, one of the 13th Bomb Squadron’s Grim Reapers finally returned home to his country and his family in Ashby, Massachusetts. On March 12, 1944, Army Air Force Staff Sgt. Roy Davis was one of two A-20G Havoc bomber crewmembers who didn’t make it back after a mission in northeastern New Guinea during World War II. After numerous unsuccessful attempts over the years, Davis’s remains were finally accounted for last year.

Six passengers aboard a canoe were located in a joint search and rescue mission June 25, 2018, in the Pacific Ocean Southwest of Guam. Crew members flying a B-52H Stratofortress assigned to the 20th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron (EBS), stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB), La., and deployed to Andersen AFB, Guam, successfully located six passengers who had been missing for six days and relayed their location to the U.S. Coast Guard. The B-52 is world-famous for its long-range capabilities, but during a routine flight near Guam June 25, 2018, crew members with the 20th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron (EBS), stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB), La., and deployed to Andersen AFB here were tasked with a unique situation: to use their aircraft’s versatility in the search and rescue of a lost local vessel with six passengers onboard.

Lockheed Martin successfully fired two production representative Long Range Anti-Ship Missiles (LRASM) from a U.S. Air Force B-1B on May 23, 2018. In the event over the Sea Range at Point Mugu, California, a B-1 bomber from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, released the pair of LRASMs. The missiles navigated through all planned waypoints, transitioned to mid-course guidance and flew toward the moving maritime target using inputs from the onboard sensors.
