5/5/2011 - BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Maj. Gen. Floyd Carpenter will relinquish command of Eighth Air Force (Air Forces Strategic) to Brig. Gen. Steve Wilson during a change-of-command ceremony June 3 at Hoban Hall on Barksdale Air Force Base.
General Wilson will join the Mighty Eighth from the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., where he currently serves as the director for Joint Integration, Directorate of Operational Capability Requirements, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force.
General Carpenter will remain at Barksdale AFB as the special assistant to the commander, Air Force Global Strike Command.
