BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. – Walter Holmes receives an Eighth Air Force Command Chief coin from Chief Master Sgt. Todd Kabalan, command Chief Master Sgt., 8th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic). Holmes received the Distinguished Service Cross Monday, two days before his 90th birthday and 65 years after the Ploesti Oil Refinery raid where he was a lead pilot in a formation of B-24 Liberators.
