WWII, POW survivor shares tale of hope, determination, resilience

William Callaway, Eighth Air Force historian, left, speaks with Lloyd Ponder, a World War II prisoner of war, right, and his wife, Joyce Ponder, in their home in Natchitoches, La., Nov. 29, 2017. Ponder was held as a POW by Japanese forces and shared his experiences of determination and resiliency in hopes to educate the community about what World War II U.S. forces endured during their time overseas. His story serves as a testament to his faith and willingness to survive any hardship he endured. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Erin Trower)
