Eighth Air Force

Headquartered at Barksdale Air Force Base in the communities of Bossier City and Shreveport, La., 8th Air Force is one of two active duty numbered air forces in Air Force Global Strike Command. The mission of the "Mighty Eighth" is to safeguard America's interests through strategic deterrence and global combat power. The flexible, conventional and nuclear strategic mission gives 8th AF the ability to deploy forces and engage enemy threats both from home station or forward positioned, anywhere and at any time.

Barksdale AFB

307th Wing
The 307th Bomb Wing operates the B-52H Stratofortress. Located at Barksdale AFB, La., the Wing employs approximately 1,600 Air Force Reserve personnel. The primary mission of the 93rd Bomb Squadron is to conduct strategic heavy bombardment and maritime operations in the B-52.

Minot AFB

5th Bomb Wing
Known by its nickname, the Warbirds, the 5th Bomb Wing is part of Air Force Global Strike Command as well as the host wing at Minot Air Force Base, N.D. The bomb wing and its fleet of B-52H Stratofortress bombers serve as part of the Air Force's conventional and strategic combat force. 

Whiteman AFB

509th Bomb Wing
Whiteman Air Force Base is home of the most technolgically advanced bomber, the B-2 Spirit. The B-2 brings massive firepower to bear, in a short time, anywhere on the globe through previously impenetrable defenses.

Dyess AFB

7th Bomb Wing
The 7th Bomb Wing's mission is to provide overwhelming long-range strike within hours anywhere in the world. It is also charged with producing combat-ready aircrews in the Air Force's only B-1B formal training unit.

Ellsworth AFB

28th Bomb Wing
The 28th Bomb Wing guarantees combat airpower for America. The mission of the 28th Bomb Wing is to put bombs on target. The 28th Bomb Wing is home to 27 B-1B Lancers, and in 2012 began flying MQ-9 Reaper missions.
