BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Airmen of the Mighty Eighth,
Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday -- a time when we join together in kinship and reflect upon all we have to be thankful for. Therefore, before we go our separate ways to enjoy this time with our friend and families, I would like to express my gratitude for all of you…the Mighty Eighth family. Thank you for your hard work, day after day, and a job well done during our most recent Global Thunder exercise. Once again, you have proven the skill, versatility and readiness of the Mighty Eighth. Though I’ve only been in command a short time, I am already in awe of the dedication and seamless teamwork I have witnessed.
As we move forward through the year, be sure to reflect upon victories such as these, and remember why we wear the uniform each day. There are millions of fellow Americans looking to you for strength, protection and guidance. When you wear the uniform, you carry with you the spirit of an entire nation -- a spirit of freedom and a spirit of giving. You can also rest assured, there are many who give thanks for you each and every day. So go home and enjoy this well-earned time off with your friends and families and give thanks for those things you hold dear.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Tom
