RAF MILDENHALL, England -- A B-52 Stratofortress, supporting a strategic bomber deployment in Europe, was diverted to RAF Mildenhall due to inclement weather Jan. 9, 2018, while en route to RAF Fairford, England.

The 100th Air Refueling Wing had Airmen standing by and infrastructure available to receive the bomber aircraft until it was able to continue to its final destination.

The strategic bomber is one of four B-52s from the 5th Bomb Wing, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, conducting theater integration and training in the United Kingdom. The deployment of these aircraft to the U.K. helps exercise U.S. Air Forces in Europe’s forward-operating location for bombers. All four bombers will participate in training with joint partners, allied nations and other U.S. Air Force units in order to contribute to ready and postured forces.
