BOSSIER CITY, La. --
More than a dozen members of the Headquarters Eighth Air Force A4/7 staff were just some of more than 1,400 volunteers who spread out to give Shreveport, La., a face-lift of sorts by painting homes all over town May 21.
This the 19th year of the "Paint Your Heart Out'' program, which has become a signature happening for the city's volunteerism efforts.
This year's goal was to provide a face-lift, free of charge, to more than 50 homes throughout the city.
"We pride ourselves in teamwork and making positive changes in everything we do," said Master Sgt. Lee Meyers, Headquarters Eighth Air Force fuels program NCOIC. "This was just another way to support the same community that has supported Barksdale Air Force Base so extensively in the past. Our goal was to improve this local family's quality of life through painting and landscaping, and according to the homeowner, that's exactly what we did. Overall it was a great experience and we look forward to doing it again next year."
