Eighth Air Force commander greets Airmen of 'The Mighty Eighth'

I can't tell you how excited I am to be able to continue to serve in Eighth Air Force. I know firsthand all the great things the men and women of "The Mighty Eighth" are doing, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to lead this great organization.

It is certainly an exciting time for 8th Air Force! In the last few months, we've witnessed the reactivation of the Proud Shield/Giant Sword competition, a refocusing of effort on the nuclear enterprise, an increase in our deterrence missions, and participation in joint exercises like UNITAS Gold. All of these efforts by "The Mighty Eighth" are sharpening our edge and helping to project air power across the globe.

As the Air Force prepares to stand up Global Strike Command, it is also a time of transition for "The Mighty Eighth." As we look to the future together, 8th Air Force will remain engaged in today's fight, we will continue to adapt as we have done throughout our history to maintain air, space and cyber dominance and we will be ready for tomorrow's challenges.

I look forward to working with the outstanding enlisted, officer and civilian professionals who make up the 8th Air Force team as we take on these challenges. I have full confidence that each and every one of you will join me in doing your duty while living our Air Force core values of integrity, service before self and excellence in all we do every day that we have the privilege to serve the United States of America

Again, it is truly an honor to serve with all of you, and to be a part of the rich heritage of professional service to our country that belongs to "The Mighty Eighth." Melissa and I look forward to continuing to serve with all of you.
