Eighth Air Force celebrates Air Force birthday
BOSSIER CITY, La. - Members of the Eighth Air Force Headquarters, 608th Air and Space Operations Center and 608th Air Communications Squadron salute the U.S. flag during a reveille ceremony at the Cyber Innovation Center in celebration of the Air Force’s 64th birthday Sept. 16. Sixty-four years ago, President Harry Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947, establishing the United States Air Force as a separate military service. Since Sept. 18, 1947, the U.S. Air Force – through its Airmen and technology – has played a key role in the defense of the U.S., maintenance of peace and humanitarian operations around the world.
