BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. – A friend of Walter Holmes looks at some of the photos and decorations of Holmes. Holmes received the Distinguished Service Cross Monday, two days before his 90th birthday and 65 years after the Ploesti Oil Refinery raid where he was a lead pilot in a formation of B-24 Liberators.
