422nd ABG, Helmdon village honor those lost almost 70 years ago

HELMDON, United Kingdom – A plaque hangs on the wall inside the Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene in memorial to a B-17 air crew killed when their plane crashed at Astwell Castle Farms in 1943. Members of the 422nd Air Base Group and local villages held a memorial service in the Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Helmdon Nov. 2 to honor the Airmen killed.
