    An Airman from the 2nd Security Forces Squadron was selected as the first ever recipient of the Kaleth O. Wright Excellence in Leadership Scholarship, an honor given on behalf of the Air Force Sergeants Association in conjunction with Waldorf University, Forest City, Iowa.
  • Remembering a 101-year-old legacy

    A memorial service was held on base to remember and pay tribute to the life-long service and legacy of the director of retiree affairs for Barksdale, July 31, 2020. Retired Col. Steven L. dePyssler, who served 38 years in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the Air Force, and the past 41 years volunteering with the retiree affairs department, passed away July 25, 2020.
  • Air Force leadership conducts privatized housing tour at Barksdale

    The Honorable John W. Henderson, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Energy, and Gen. Arnold W. Bunch Jr., Air Force Materiel Command commander, visited Barksdale Jan. 6, 2020 to conduct a privatized housing tour. The tour familiarized the leaders with the current condition of privatized base housing here, aligning with current Air Force efforts to improve the Military Housing Privatization Initiative Program for the service.
  • Col. dePyssler’s service commemorated with building dedication

    The life-long service of a military veteran has been forever memorialized following the renaming and dedication of the 2nd Mission Support Group building at Barksdale during a ceremony on November 8, 2019. Retired Col. Steven L. dePyssler, director of military retiree affairs for Barksdale, served 38 years on active duty in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the Air Force. He has also spent the past 41 years volunteering with the retiree affairs department. He is believed to be the only known American to have served in World War II, the Korean War, the French Indo-China War, the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Vietnam War.
  • 2019 BTF comes to an end

    More than 450 personnel and six B-52 Stratofortresses from Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, returned home following a short-term deployment to RAF Fairford, England, in support of U.S. Strategic Command’s Bomber Task Force in Europe, April 11, 2019. The BTF deployment enabled theater integration and training with joint partners, allied nations and other U.S. Air Force units, to further enhance bomber interoperability in the theater.
