Secretary retires after nearly 50 years as a federal employee

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. – After 49 years of civil service, 29 as part of Eighth Air Force, Medina Paro officially retired Aug. 27. Mrs. Paro began working as a federal employee in June of 1961. In 1977, she became the 2nd Field Maintenance Squadron commander’s secretary then was reassigned to the 2nd Organizational Maintenance Squadron. Mildred Taylor-McKeithen was presented the Prisoner of War Medal during a ceremony honoring Sergeant Taylor, her late husband, at the museum on Barksdale Air Force Base May 21.
